Sound Installation (2017)

For 2 channel sound and speakers covered in aluminum foil

Created during the 40 day Deep in the Mountain Residency 2017 in PyeongChang (KR)
Funded by the Arts Council Korea
Part of the group exhibition “Montage is a Heartbeat”
Concept: Tine Surel Lange
Premiere October 2017 at Multi-Cultural Artspace Haengwhatang, Seoul (KR)

Sound installation based on selected field recordings done in nature around PyeongChang.
In the background of all the recordings you either hear the sound of construction for the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics or the sound of airplanes.
The lower frequencies of the construction work or airplanes create bigger movement in the speaker membrane which further leads to movement in the aluminum covering the speakers, creating a buzzing sound.
The idea is to create a hostile and unnatural environment surrounding the sounds of nature.
Saving the world is not a choice for us to make.
The world will be there with or without us.
In time all will be forgotten.
